Capitol Comedy Hour

  • Nomad World Pub 418 East Wilson Street Madison, WI, 53703 United States (map)

Capitol Comedy Hour is Madison's Premier local Comedy Showcase.

This month we have a stellar lineup, including two of Madison’s most talented funny people, plus comics from Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, and even L.A! If you’re looking for a Friday night full of laughter, look no further! $5 at the door. Must be 21 or older.

Featuring:
Ryan Kahl
Ryan Kahl is a stand-up comedian based out of Minneapolis, MN. In 2017 he was a finalist in the Funniest Person in Minneapolis Contest and in 2018 he was named a Growler Magazine Comic To Watch. Ryan has performed in The 10,000 Laughs Comedy Festival and Limestone Comedy Festival.

Scott Shaffer
Scott has been featuring around the country for nearly a decade after getting his start in Kansas City. Since moving to Los Angeles in 2016 he has performed at comedy clubs such as Flappers, The Ice House, and The Comedy Store among others. He has also be seen on weekly/monthly shows in LA such as UCB Fresh Out, Yellahammered, and Lizard Brain. Since starting comedy he has worked with some of the top comedians such as Nikki Glaser, Andrew Santino, Josh Blue, and Nate Bargatze. He co-hosts a podcast about commercials called Ad Nauseam and also writes for the animated show Good Morning Shutup.”

Kaitlin McCarthy
Milwaukee comedian and producer, Kaitlin McCarthy tells jokes about her dead dad and her affinity for pie. She also named her cat, Freddie Purrcury. So yeah, her sense of humor is on effing point. She's opened for Matt Braunger and Nate Craig and hosts and produces Milwaukee's longest-running monthly stand up showcase, Subjective: A Comedic Showing at Var Gallery in Walker's Point. Kaitlin is also Marketing Director and Co Producer for Milwaukee Comedy, producing 8-10 shows every month, in addition to the Milwaukee Comedy Festival, Wisconsin's largest multi-day comedy event, which is in its 14th year..

Andrew Wegleitner
Andrew Wegleitner has performed at some of the best venues in the Midwest including Comedy on State, Skyline, and Brave New Workshop. When he began doing stand up, his destructive booze habit prevented him from writing anything decent or looking professional on stage. Now 7 years without a drink he has opened for Louie Anderson, placed 2nd in The Funniest Person in The Twin Cities Contest, appeared on the KQ Morning Radio Show, and participated in the 10,000 Laughs Comedy Festival. His comedy is based on honest, real life, personal experiences combined with silly one liners and crazy antics.

Colin Bowden
A generally pleasant and sociable young man, Colin has learned to use to create jokes to diffuse situations, bring light to tough topics, and get free mojitos from time to time. He loves dry humor, pregnant pauses and salmon sushi. Give him two of those three and he might just love you.

Steve Horton
Steve Horton brings an eccentric personality to the stage as his comedy tackles a variety of life's vulnerable moments. Breakups, self-confidence, growing up ginger -- Steve tackles the struggles we all encounter in this life. Audiences can be surprised by the imagination in Steve's comedy. Not too many people talk about bigfoots or black holes, but there is a throughline of honesty and self reflection that helps this act stand out. Steve has opened for Barrt Crimmins, Adam Newman, Dan St Germain, Debra DiGiovanni, and more. Catch Steve performing with Atlas Improv Co every weekend in Madison.

Merrit Landsteiner
Merrit Landsteiner is unapologetically intense and has been described as blunt "but in a good way" her entire life. She really doesn't fit the stereotype of a nice farm girl from the Midwest. Merrit has performed at many venues including The Comedy Store La Jolla, Irvine Improv, Comedy Club on State, The Laugh Factory Chicago, Zanies Chicago and Zanies Rosemont, Second City, iO, and countless others.
